2008 Tournament Recap
The Summer Fest started the tournament season off in July and saw 4 teams made up of individuals compete in the one day tournament. The team managed by Carlos Heigl, the Red Barons took the Championship over the Red Soxs.
The ASKOE CUP was the first team tournament of the season and for the first time we welcomed a team from outside of Austria. Actually two teams from Trnava Slovakia joined the tournament and made a great impression on everyone. The American International School ended up topping the Oldstars Trnava for the title. This tournament also saw the fist Home Run Derby, the winner was Lance Borden from the AIS.
The Billabong OPEN in September welcomed the Slovakians back plus 7 other teams for the biggest tournament of the year. This 3 day event was played in the most part in the rain but that did not stop the participants from having a great time. In an all latin final the Caribes topped the Prater Bombers but the highlight of the tournament was the great party put on by Billabong on the saturday night, THANKS! www.billabong.at
Rounding out the year was the STAHL Standoff individual tournament. Polar topped the 3 team field with a 3-1 record and claimed the Championship t.shirts. This tournament was a great way to close out the season and say bye to some of our "summer" friends until next year. There was also a Home Run Derby included in the tournament and was won by resident slugger, Carlos Heigl.
Many thanks to all players and managers for a fantastic tournament season and a special thank you to Ziad in the Kantine.
