Sunday the Wanderers girls faced the Vienna Mosquitoes at
the Freudenau field.
Christine Farnleitner
started game one on the mound. Giving up an unearned run in the first inning
and another two in the second inning, she held the defense scoreless from then
on. The Wanderers bat were on fire and they could score 17 runs in 4 innings on
two Mosquitoes pitchers including a 2-run Homerun from Caroline Meriaux. The
game ended 17:3 in the 4th inning.
Even better the Wanderers did in the second game. Christine
Farnleitner again started on the mound for another 7 innings of hard work. 4
Strikeouts from Farnleitner and a solid defense with outstanding plays from the middle
infielders Denise Orlovits and Lauren Du Toit kept the game scoreless for the Mosquitoes.
This time the Wanderers had to face the import pitcher from the Mosquitoes
Sammy Parks. The Wanderers were not quiet but also stayed scoreless the first
three innings. Meriaux could score one run in the 3rd inning and the Wanderers
could add another two in the 5th and in the 7th inning.
Two great team wins altough the Wanderers still suffer from
injuries, sicknesses and missing players. Looking forward to see you girls on
the field soon again. Next games will be on June 20th faceing the Pee Wees St.
Pölten.
