Game one got started off by Nina Linnert who threw seven innings, throughout the battle that ended in favour of the Pee Wees 8-7. Despite the clutch hitting from the Vienna Wanderers they fell short in th ebottom of the seventh inning. With the tying run on 3rd base, Jolanta ZArosa hits a steaming line drive at the short stop to end the game. The two teams fought back and forth with the Wanderes scoring first and the Pee Wees answering back. The winning run crossed the plate with a two run homerun from the Pee Wees catcher Jamie Schloredt. The Wanderers gave their all but ultimately fell one run short.
The second game was a different story. Mercedes Lovato, a former Division 1 pitcher, starting for the Pee Wees had a stellar performance on the mound. Despite the effort Nina Linnert put forth, it didn't hold down their batters. The game ended 11-1. Throughout the game the Wanderers had runners on base, Denise Orlovits with a perfect bunt down the first base line, Sophie Burghart and Caroline Meriaux providing singles and Pezi Bartalszky walking, however it was not enough to come out on top.
The Wanderers are still understrength by several injuries, sicknesses and missing players but they never hung their head and kept fighting till the last batter. The Wanderers will be back in two weeks, hopefully with more players and again a great attitude to face the Rag Dolls on July 4th at the Spenadlwiese.
Come out and enjoy!
