Vienna Wanderers finally met Attnang Athletics, who are 1 game behind them, after 18 games were played.
The Wanderers starting pitcher Clemens Cichocki threw 3 scoreless innings, on bottom 4th, after he retired 2 batters he gave up a basehit to left. He picked the runner off, the runner broke to 2nd but the firstbaseman threw on dirt and made him advance to 3rd. Attnang Cuban import hit a weak ground ball at SS but the SS made a throwing error to give up a run. Next inning, also after 2 outs Cichocki gave up a double to left and after a pass ball, he gave up a infield single to give up another run.
The Wanderers offense, after the 2 runs, made a action. Victor Cichocki walked, and Hiro Sakanashi hit a single to right. Sakanashi stole 2nd. One out later, Amin Many, who ran for Victor Cichocki, came home on the groundball. The Attnang starter threw a wild pitch and Sakanashi came home to tie the game.
Next inning, Attnang created a 1st and 3rd by a bunt for hit and a single. After this play, the game was stopped by the rain. 10 minutes later, the game was restarted. On 1st pitch the batter bunted and while the runner on 3rd came home, the batter reached on 1st by an throwing error. Cichocki gave up a single and a sac fly after.
Cichocki completed the game, gave up 5 runs 3 walks and struck out 4, although he did not get help by the offense, who only hit 3 hits and was fanned 8.
The Athletics held the Wanderers 5-2.
On Game 2, as the Attnang fought to Cichocki, they scored 2 runs with 2 hits off Johannes Godler in the 1st inning. However the Wanderers scored 2 runs back in the next inning with 2 singles and 3 walks. On top 4th, Jan Machian had a lead off single and he advanced to 3rd after a sac bunt and a pass ball. Amin Many walked, Francois du Toit struck out but Many stole 2nd and Machian came home while Many's stolenbase. The Wanderers took a lead 3-2.
After the inning, again, the rain stopped the game. The rain was for the Wanderers this time. After 20 minutes of rain delay, the starting pitcher for Attnang was pulled off after the 5th inning.
On top 7th, the Wanderers scored 4 runs and added more runs next 2 innings.
Johannes Godler threw 8 innings, he only gave up 2 runs 2 walks and struck out 4. Felix Zimmerle finished the last inning.
Francois du Toit and Clemens Cichocki drove 4 hits each on 2nd game to lead the Wanderers 10-2 victory.
Vienna Wanderers are still in the 1st place after split to Attnang Athletics. The Wanderers are driving to Kufstein to face the Vikings on Saturday.
